Poland has reduced the retirement age

The Polish Sejm on 16 November voted to reduce the retirement age from 67 years to 65 years for men and 60 for women. The decision was supported by 262 deputies, 149 were against, and 19 abstained, reports UKRINFORM.

«For me today the most important and most joyful is that we have in Parliament, the Seimas, adopted a law reducing the retirement age,» — said on this occasion, the President Andrzej Duda.

The head of the government Beata Szydlo said that the party «law and Justice» (PiS), the current government and the President Andrzej Duda fulfill his promise and return social justice to the citizens of the country. She noted that the previous coalition of the Civic platform (PO) and Polish peasant party (PSL) raise the retirement age contrary to the interests of citizens.

According to the law, from October 1, 2017, women will be able to retire at the age of 60 years and men 65 years. The previous coalition PO-PSL have raised the retirement age to 67 years for men and women, however, he had to go up gradually.

Earlier in mass media appeared information that the IMF demands from Ukraine pension reform to receive the next tranche.

Among the requirements: a gradual change in the retirement age, establishing one pension scheme without providing benefits for any of the professions (except the military), expansion of the basis for contributions to the social security system, the establishment of a fair tax regime for pensions.
