During the visit to Ottawa of Vice-speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy urged newly elected deputies of the canadian Federal Parliament in support of Ukraine. About this paruby told UKRINFORM on the results of his visit.
«During the visit we have held several meetings with a wide range of newly elected members and advised them regarding the events in Ukraine, not to give the possibility to fluctuate in its support», — said Parubiy.
He added that meetings were held with members of both major parties in the Federal Parliament.
«We met with conservatives and liberals to normalize our relations and to ensure that all existing canadian programs to support Ukraine, in particular the training of military and police, will be saved,» — said Vice-speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament.
The Ambassador of Ukraine in Canada Andriy Shevchenko also said that the Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau during a meeting with Paruby confirmed firm intention of Ottawa to continue supporting Kiev.
Shevchenko added that Parubiy met with the Minister of defence of Canada and parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of foreign Affairs.
At the same time, the Ukrainian delegation met with the leader of the parliamentary opposition — Party Ambrose and delegates of the Conservative party, and during the session of Parliament, Parubiy welcomed shadow Minister of defence of Canada James Bezan.
In addition, in Toronto Parubiy talked to the Diaspora, gave a lecture at the University and took part in the expert round table, devoted to questions of foreign policy.
«With Diaspora, we talked about what was happening in Ukraine, about corruption, about government, about war and everything else. It was very important to learn firsthand what is happening», — said Parubiy.
From Ottawa first Vice-speaker of Parliament went to Washington.
Recall that 10 politicians of Ukrainian descent were held in the Parliament of Canada.
