The Verkhovna Rada may appoint new members of the Central election Commission of Ukraine (CEC) in December, said the speaker of the Parliament Andrei Parubiy at a briefing after the conciliation Council of the Parliament, reports the correspondent of the Internet edition «GORDON».
«I can assure you that has moved forward the discussion of candidates to the Central election Commission,» he said.
Parubiy expressed the hope that the faction will promptly downest their proposals and the President again will serve the idea of appointing members of the CEC.
He recalled that members of the CEC must pass a Commission.
«It will take some time. According to preliminary our estimates, up to two weeks. And I expect that in the next two weeks, which will take place in December, we will be able to go to positively resolve the question of the new composition of the CEC. I do everything to ensure that we could move on to this issue as soon as possible», – said the speaker of Parliament.
Parubiy added that in December, Council may also appoint an auditor of the National anticorruption Bureau of Ukraine.
The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko in June 2016, has offered the Parliament to appoint the CEC 11 candidates: Alla Basalaeva, Michael Urbinskogo, Roman Row, Olga Zheltova, Konopatskova Oleg, Svetlana Kustova, Olga Lotyuk, Vitaly Pucara, Eugene Radchenko, Hope the Bird and Leontius Shipilova.
According to Parubiy, there is no parliamentary votes for approval of these candidates. In October last year, he asked the President to make a new submission on the appointment of CEC members. In November 2016 Parubiy declared that Poroshenko is ready to compromise on a new composition of the CEC.
The President again raised the issue of appointment of new CEC members on 20 March 2017.
The term of office of the member of the CEC of Ukraine is seven years. 12 of the 15 members of the current Commission was appointed on 1 June 2007. Three CEC members: Kateryna bereziuk, Oleg Didenko and Alexander Osadchuk – continue to exercise the powers.
By law, the Verkhovna Rada appoints and dismisses from office of the CEC members by the President. In the preparation of the submission of the President takes into account the proposals of factions and groups formed in the current convocation of the Parliament.
Parubiy said that the Council can appoint new members of the CEC in December 13.11.2017
