A number of MPs asked the constitutional court of Ukraine declared unconstitutional the Verkhovna Rada resolution on renaming of Dnipropetrovsk, the press service of the COP.
On June 15, the constitutional court of Ukraine received a constitutional representation of 48 people’s deputies concerning conformity with the Constitution of Ukraine (constitutionality) of the resolution of the Verkhovna Rada on renaming the city of Dnepropetrovsk Dnepropetrovsk region in connection with violation of the established Constitution of Ukraine, the procedure for its consideration and adoption», — stated in the message of the court.
According to the press service, according to the rules of the COP, representation of deputies referred to the study in the registry.
In the constitutional petition, which is posted on the website of the COP, in particular, it is noted that the authors of the petition in the constitutional proceedings are taken by MPs from the faction «Opposition bloc» Dmytro Shpenov, Vasily nimchenko and Dmitry Kolesnikov.
According to the authors, the Verkhovna Rada has violated the deadlines for adoption of such regulations. Also the author of the submission indicates that it was broken and the voting procedure of MPs.
The document notes that the renaming of the city’s name without amending the Constitution is a violation of the Basic law. In addition, the authors of the constitutional petition believe that there has been «ignoring the will of the local community.
«When the Verkhovna Rada adopted a resolution on renaming of the city of Dnipropetrovsk in Dnipropetrovsk region have been violated art. 5, 6, 8, 11, 19, 38, 83, 84, 133 the Constitution of Ukraine», — the authors of the submission.
Recall, the Verkhovna Rada renamed the Dnipropetrovsk at Dnipro. The same day deputies from the Opposition bloc Oleksandr Vilkul and Dmitry Kolesnikov has registered the resolution to set aside the renaming.
