Thousands of scientists from around the world, including 28 Nobel prize winners signed the petition, which strongly condemns issued by the President of the United States the decree on temporary prohibition on entry into the country for the citizens of several countries in the Middle East and North Africa.

The decree, which caused a wave of protests in the United States and abroad, was signed by trump on Friday, January 27. This document suspends the reception of refugees in the United States on 120 days, prohibits indefinitely the placement of refugees from Syria and tightens some of the rules of entry into the United States. In addition, trump has limited the entry to 90 days from a number of countries with a predominantly Muslim population, but did not name these countries. According to the American immigration lawyers Association, we are talking about a temporary ban on the entry of citizens of Iraq, Iran, Syria, Sudan, Yemen, Libya and Somalia.
On 27-28 January in new York, Boston, San Francisco, Miami and other U.S. cities have passed mass protest actions against actions of the White house, aimed at limiting immigration, refugee reception and entry into the country of citizens of Muslim States.
Speaking at the signing ceremony of the decree in the Pentagon, trump said that this decree is one of the steps aimed at protecting US from foreign terrorists, and stressed that henceforth decisions on the admission of refugees will be «extreme».
According to the decision of trump, in the current fiscal year which will end on 30 September 2017, the US will accept no more than 50 thousand refugees. Nearly 30 thousand of them are already in the United States.
The administration of former President Barack Obama planned in the current financial year to take about 110 thousands of refugees. A year earlier, the United States took 85 thousand refugees, and in 2013-2015 adopted by more than 200 thousand refugees.
The decree trump special attention is paid to the ban on accepting refugees from Syria. The document says: «the Entry of Syrian nationals as refugees is contrary to the interests of the United States. Freeze any such entry until the moment when I decide that there have been significant changes… enables the reception of Syrian refugees in accordance with national interests.»
At the same time, trump said he was willing to help the Syrian Christians, who were forced to leave their homes because of the war in Syria.
