Nigeria military aircraft mistakenly attacked a refugee camp in the North-East of the country.

In the air strikes at least 50 people were killed and more than 100 injured, reports the BBC, reports «RBC-Ukraine».

Reportedly, among the victims were humanitarian workers, in particular, 6 representatives of the International Committee of the red cross.

«The incident occurred near the border with Cameroon, where the army is fighting with militants of the Islamist group «Boko Haram», — stated in the message.

According to the military, the pilot was sure of insurgent attacks. It is also noted that the order to start military operations were given on the basis of intelligence data on the locations of militants.

It is reported that the President of Nigeria, Mohammed Buhari , has already expressed his condolences in connection with tragedy.
