«Neutral Paralympic athletes». For the Paralympics in Pyeongchang admitted 30 Russians

30 Russian Paralympians will take part in the winter Games in South Korea’s Pyeongchang as a neutral Paralympic athletes. This was announced on February 26 the press service of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).

The Games also made 39 people from the coaching and technical staff and six guides – accompanying for visually impaired skiers and skiers.

All admitted to the Paralympics athletes passed in the last six months at least two anti-doping test and has fulfilled the qualification standards.

Officially the Russian national team at the 2018 Paralympics is not allowed in connection with the disqualification of the national Paralympic Committee.

At the Paralympic games in Sochi, Russia was represented by 69 athletes.

In 2016 the independent Commission of the world anti-doping Agency under the guidance of a canadian Professor Richard McLaren published an investigation outlining details of the state support of doping in Russia. The Commission was concerned with both Olympic and Paralympic sport in Russia.

19 December 2017, the Executive Committee of the IPC announced the suspension of the Paralympic Committee of Russia from the winter Games in 2018. 29 Jan IASC recognized the progress of Russia in resolving problems with the anti-doping activities and stated the possibility of a visit to Pyeongchang individual athletes from that country with neutral status.

XII Paralympic winter games in South Korea will be held from 9th-18th March.
