Nebozhenko: MPs do not think about Ukraine and reforms. They are afraid to give the President the latter weapon – the courts

The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko does so in the courts were people who are satisfied. On this edition of «GORDON» said political scientist, Director of the sociological service «Ukrainian barometer» Victor Nebozhenko.

«It is unlikely that the number of judges of Ukraine will be significantly updated. The fish rots from the head. Everyone knows about the political situation of the highest court of the country – constitutional. Accordingly, the Supreme, Arbitration, and other courts have actively regulated telephone law. Don’t forget that today the judiciary and prosecutors – one of the richest segments of the population who know how to defend themselves. Please note, they do not allow lustration in their ranks. And the President is doing so in the courts were people who are satisfied» – said the analyst.

In his opinion, the real judicial reform will not take place because MPs fear that the courts will become an instrument of the repressive machine and begin to act against them.

«The deputies in conversations are not against the presidential control over the judges, but where is the guarantee that tomorrow, the Union controlled the Prosecutor and the judges did not turn against them? Parliamentarians do not think about Ukraine and reforms. It’s not Democrats and conservatives fight with each other for judicial reform. It is a parliamentary body of any political orientation is afraid to give into the hands of the President of the latter weapon – the courts. Now under the control of Petro Poroshenko, the Ministry of internal Affairs and the Prosecutor’s office. One last mechanism to create the repressive machinery of control over the judicial system. And it achieves this successfully,» – said Nebozhenko.

The political scientist believes that the deputies will vote for reform, but will make such amendments that will make the law unworkable.

«Deputies will not refuse the General voting on judicial reform, but will do everything that the law didn’t work. And it will be even worse: the law is there, but not functioning, because it contains many contradictory norms,» – said the expert.
