NBU can reduce the maximum amount of cash settlements for individuals in 3 times – up to UAH 50 thousand

The national Bank of Ukraine proposes to set the limit amount of cash settlements for individuals in the amount of 50 thousand UAH, which is 3 times below the current standards. This is stated in the draft resolution of the NBU, which the regulator has posted on its website for public comment, the cat, the ora should continue until September 5.

In an accompanying statement, the Bank stressed that along with the reduction of the maximum amount of cash payments, cashless payments will be made without any restrictions and banks are obliged to provide these payments at the request of the customers in full.

It is also reported that a Comprehensive program of development of the financial sector of Ukraine till 2020 envisages the decrease of cash in the economy to a level not above 12% of GDP, while according to the results of 2015 this figure is 14.6%.

Earlier, in July last year, the regulator has proposed to reduce the maximum amount of cash payments between physical persons to 50 thousand UAH, also placing the corresponding draft resolution for public comment.

As reported, from 1 September 2013 in Ukraine the maximum amount of cash payments at the level of UAH 10 thousand — for settlements of enterprises (businesses) among themselves in during one day, 150 thousand UAH – for the calculations of individuals, enterprises (entrepreneurs) during one day for goods (works, services) and between themselves by contracts of sale, subject to notarization.

In the summer of 2014, the NBU has proposed to reduce the maximum amount of cash settlements in transactions with individuals up to 100 thousand UAH, and in the summer of 2015 – up to 50 thousand UAH.
