Nazarbayev has banned to run for President of Kazakhstan citizens, without the five-year length of service

The President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, signed the law forbidding to run for the position of head of state citizens who do not have five years of experience in public office. About it reports «Radio Azzatyk».

According to the law, the candidate also needs to prove «the absence of diseases preventing the execution of duties of head of state.»

Existing constitutional principles stipulate that candidates should have age not less than 40 years old, be born in Kazakhstan and live in the country for at least 15 years and be fluent in the Kazakh language.

The period of stay on a post of the President in Kazakhstan – five years, the position can take not more than two consecutive terms.

This rule is valid personal exception personally for Nazarbayev, for which the number of terms in office is not limited in accordance with the special law on the «first President.»

77-year-old Nazarbayev has been has been ruling Kazakhstan since 1989. In the last presidential election in 2015, he, according to official data, has received nearly 98% of the votes.
