NATO dissatisfied with the implementation of the national program, defining the list and the speed of reforms for rapprochement with the Alliance. This was announced today in Brussels, said the Ambassador of Ukraine to NATO Vadim pristayko, informs «European true».
«The Alliance is dissatisfied with the implementation of the annual plan and told us about it directly. They are dissatisfied with the pace of implementation, and this is not the first year, that is not the first program which could learn to perform better,» he said.
The diplomat said that the claims were made by NATO leaders including the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Ivanna klympush-Tsintsadze, when she came to Brussels this week.
«(Rapprochement with NATO. – «GORDON») Grand size and volume commitments. We take on too ambitious goals, which are then not able to perform» – says Pristayko.
He, in particular, noted that commitments do not have enough resources.
«We are working, notes are taken, and we intend to improve the program for next year,» – said the diplomat.
Ukraine has intensified its cooperation with NATO in 2014, against the annexation of Crimea to Russia and armed conflict in the Donbass. At the end of 2014, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a law that requires the refusal of Ukraine from the policy of «non-alignment». In June 2017, the Parliament approved a law confirming Ukraine’s intention to join NATO.
The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said that the decision on Ukraine’s accession to the Alliance will be taken at the referendum. On 14 October he said that a member of NATO Ukraine will become necessary.
26 October at the forum in Kyiv, Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin said that «the ambitious goal of Ukraine is joining NATO in 2020».
