NABU exposed the judge of Poltava on a bribe

August 31, detectives of the National anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine under the procedural guidance of prosecutors Specialized anti-corruption Prosecutor’s office and for operational support of SBU detained the judge of the Leninsky district court of Poltava city on suspicion in receiving a bribe. This was reported by the press service of NABOO.

«Judge detained after receiving improper benefits from the representative plaintiff in a civil case. According to investigators, the judge took a decision in the interests of the plaintiff, who was required to recover the debt in the amount of 100 thousand UAH», – reported in NABOO.

The issue messages to the judge on suspicion, as well as making a submission to the High Council of justice in favour of granting permission the judge in custody. It is noted that the investigation of these facts, the detectives NAB began in March 2017.

Law enforcement officials are not announced the name of the detainee judge. According to the online edition of «Poltava» detained judge is Sergei Kononenko.

Kononenko was a judge for 15 years. To work in the Leninsky district court of Poltava, he was a judge at the military local court of the Poltava garrison.

21 may 2009 he was elected by the Verkhovna Rada on the post of judge termless. According to the publication, in July 2016, Kononeko filed in the High Council of justice a letter of resignation, but was refused.

According to the Declaration of 2016, the average monthly income Kononenko (salary and pension) amounted to nearly 28 thousand UAH per month. According to the office for the protection of the economy in the Poltava region, the judge demanded that the representative plaintiff a bribe of 5 thousand UAH.
