Muzhenko: Ukraine welcomes the intention of the OSCE SMM to work at night

The Ukrainian side welcomes the intention of the OSCE SMM in Ukraine to provide its observers with additional technical capabilities for the organization for security from the beginning of 2017. This was during a meeting with the Chairman of the Special OSCE monitoring mission in Ukraine by Erturul Apakan said the chief of the General staff — chief of the APU Viktor Muzhenko, according to the Department of public relations of the Armed Forces.

«We support the intentions of SMM of the OSCE to provide its observers the additional equipment and the deployment of advanced observation posts in the occupied territories of Donbass», — said Muzhenko.

He thanked Apakan for their consistent position in support of the Minsk accords and in promoting peace in Ukraine.

«I hope that in 2017 on the Ukrainian land will be peace. It is necessary for us. We are open and ready to cooperate with the OSCE Mission to achieve this goal, in any format,» — said the chief of the APU.

As reported this week, after visits to Kiev and Moscow the Minister of foreign Affairs of Austria presiding in the OSCE, Sebastian Kurz has announced its intention to extend the work of OSCE observers on the night.

In an interview, he said that 700 of the SMM monitors will receive additional technical equipment, and their mission in the region will continue. Thus, the Austrian Minister noted that the majority of clashes and shootings occur at night, when the mission of OSCE monitors.
