MPs again refused to consider specefication

The Verkhovna Rada once again refused to include in the agenda of session of the government bill No. 5142 on the return of stolen state assets.

The speaker Andriy Parubiy today, October 20, several times put this decision to a vote, stressing that it is not about the consideration of the bill, but only its inclusion in the agenda of the session, but each time voted for it less than 200 members.

«This is a bad sign for the start of our work, colleagues,» he said in the end.

Recall, the Cabinet of Ministers on 14 September approved and sent to Parliament a bill on special confiscation, which allows pre-trial seizure of funds and other assets obtained by criminal means.

Deputies tried it before to include it in the agenda, but nothing worked.

The Cabinet laid in the state budget for 2017 the revenues from the special confiscation of assets of corrupt officials in the amount of 10.5 billion hryvnias.

Before Parliament proposed several bills on special confiscation of property stolen by the previous government, but none of them could not find support of deputies. The main argument of the critics of such bills is a concern that he will allow to deprive of property of ordinary people and they will not be able to defend themselves.
