Denmark from 1 February to begin the implementation of anti-corruption initiatives of the EU in Ukraine, said the Minister of foreign Affairs of Denmark, Anders Samuelsen.
«February 1, Denmark will officially wear the Jersey of the leader of the anti-corruption program of the EU in Ukraine. With a budget of 120 million Danish kroner, we will in the next three years to help the Ukrainian government in its fight against corruption,» the article says the Danish foreign Minister, circulated on the official website of the MFA of Ukraine in Facebook.
He also noted that Denmark will maintain a high level of support of reforms in Ukraine in energy sector, effective governance, decentralization and freedom of the media.
«We must work together in the EU to do what we can politically and economically to support the process of reform in Ukraine, and the path to growth and prosperity. We need to support economic development and help create a more effective framework for the private sector in Ukraine», — said the diplomat.
As reported, on 24 November 2016, the Vice Prime Minister on European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine Ivanna klympush-Tsintsadze , and the EU Commissioner for European neighbourhood policy and negotiations to expand Johaness Khan signed the Agreement on the financing of the event «anti-corruption initiative of the EU in Ukraine».
The total budget for implementation is 16,34 million euros, of which the contribution from the EU amounts to 15 million euros, co-financing Ministry of foreign Affairs of Denmark — 1.34 million euros.
EU funds will be focused on strengthening the capacity of state bodies responsible for combating corruption — the National anticorruption Bureau of Ukraine, the Specialized anti-corruption Prosecutor’s office, the National Agency for prevention of corruption, the National Agency of Ukraine on the identification, investigation and management of assets derived from corruption and other crimes, as well as the integrity of employees of other agencies and bodies of justice.
Anti-corruption initiative of the EU in Ukraine also aims to improve parliamentary oversight of the implementation of the reforms and opportunities of the Verkhovna Rada to review and Refine policy and regulatory framework, including through the establishment of the international Advisory Council of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on preventing and combating corruption.
The initiative will involve civil society and the media to implement anti-corruption measures, in particular through the promotion of «investigative journalism» and will be working with interested local authorities in the framework of the pilot project «Clean city» to demonstrate the positive changes which can bring an effective anti-corruption, stressed the press service.
The fulfillment of these objectives will allow to create in Ukraine uniform center of support of institutions aimed at combating corruption.
