The Ministry of foreign Affairs of Ukraine calls on the international community to support the creation of an international platform for discussion of issues on de-occupation of Crimea. This is stated in the statement of the MFA of Ukraine on the occasion of anniversary of the illegal occupation of the Russian Federation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol.
«Two years ago, the Russian Federation, having begun armed aggression against Ukraine, beginning the process of rewriting postwar history, violated international law, which are the basis of peaceful coexistence. Russia ceased to be part of the civilized world and became a state party», — reads the statement.
The foreign Ministry of Ukraine stressed that Russian soldiers in green uniform without insignia became a symbol of hybrid war, and their landing in the Ukrainian Crimea marked the beginning of brazen violation by the Kremlin of international law and human rights in the occupied Peninsula.
«Under the Russian occupation of Crimea has become a «grey zone» where there is injustice, terror, intimidation, kidnapping and torture. The occupation authorities systematically and large-scale breaks fundamental rights and freedoms of citizens, conducts a covert war against dissidents, destroys features of linguistic, religious, cultural identity of Ukrainians and the indigenous population of the Crimean Peninsula – the Crimean Tatars. The actions of the Russian authorities aimed at proscribing the activities of the Majlis, and political processes against representatives of the Crimean Tatars in the occupied Crimea — speak eloquently of the tyranny of occupiers,» reads the statement.
The Ukrainian foreign Ministry recalled that the international community unanimously expressed its solidarity with Ukraine against Russian military aggression. The democratic States of the world condemned the occupation, imposed sanctions against Russia and its leadership aimed at restoring the integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders.
«Ukraine demands from the Russian Federation to end the occupation, repression and numerous provocations against the Ukrainian citizens and Pro-Ukrainian population of the Crimean Peninsula», — said the foreign Ministry.
Also, the Ukrainian foreign Ministry called on the international community to increase political and diplomatic pressure on Russia as a state of an occupant and to support the initiative of Ukraine to establish an international platform to discuss issues that are vital to residents of the occupied Peninsula and the entire world community.
Earlier it was reported that the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Ukraine initiated the preparation of international negotiations on de-occupation of Crimea in the format of «Geneva plus». This was announced by Director of policy and communications Ministry of foreign Affairs Alexei Makeev.
Note that previously the Commissioner of the President on Affairs of the Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Jemilev expressed his opinion that economic sanctions against Russia can lead to de-occupation of Crimea. According to him, the military way of liberation of the Crimea from Russian occupation lead to numerous casualties, and so we have to consider demilitarise way.
The leader of the Crimean Tatar people also believed that, according to various estimates, the process of de-occupation may take about a year and a half. «Nobody can say how long it will last this agony of the Russian economy, but believe that no more than a year and a half and we will see the liberation of the occupied territories not only in Ukraine, but also Georgia, Transnistria», — said Dzhemilev.
