The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel at talks in Berlin on Monday, 1 February, coordinated actions to provide the citizens of Ukraine visa-free regime with the EU.

The Federal Chancellor has supported the President of Ukraine in the issue of the need for urgent adoption by the Parliament the remaining Ukrainian visa-free laws,» according to the press service of the Ukrainian President on the results of the negotiations.
In addition, Poroshenko, Merkel and French President’s adviser Jacques Odiber agreed on the next meeting in «Norman format» level of foreign Ministers next week in Paris.

18 December 2015, the European Commission published the final report on the implementation by Ukraine of the action Plan on visa liberalization with the EU.
In the report the EC States that Ukraine has fulfilled all the conditions to recommend to include it in the list of countries with which the EU has a visa-free regime.
The report will be forwarded to the EU Council and the European Parliament, and on the basis of this document they should approve the decision on visa liberalization with Ukraine.
The Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin believes that a visa-free regime with the EU will take effect in 5-7 months.
The Deputy foreign Minister on European integration Elena serkal said that the EU Council will consider the abolition of visas for Ukraine in March or June of 2016.
In addition to the EU, Ukrainians will also have the opportunity to travel without visas in 57 countries.
Earlier it was reported that member countries of the EU can temporarily block the visa-free regime with Ukraine in case of default it is taken on regulating obligations in respect of combating corruption, migration policy, and security issues.
The dialogue between the EU and Ukraine on visa liberalisation started in 2008, and in 2010 the EU offered Ukraine an action Plan on visa liberalization.
