Member countries of the OSCE have agreed on the candidacy of the new Secretary General

Member countries of the Organization for security and cooperation in Europe (OSCE) decided on the candidate for the four Executive positions. This was at the press conference said acting head of the OSCE Sebastian Kurz, according to Reuters.

11 July in the Austrian resort town of Vienna hosted an informal meeting of heads of ministries of foreign Affairs of countries – members of OSCE.

So, members of the organization supported the candidacy of the Swiss diplomat Thomas Greminger for the post of the OSCE Secretary General.

The high Commissioner on national minorities, former OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier, representative on freedom of the media – the former head of the French Socialist party Harlem Desir, head of the Office for democratic institutions and human rights (ODIHR) – former Minister of foreign Affairs of Iceland, Solrun Gisladottir.

The term of office of Zannier to the post of OSCE Secretary General ended on 30 June. On 11 July members of the organization could not determine his successor.
