Media: the European Commission postponed the decision on the abolition of visas for Ukraine

The European Commission will submit to the Council of the EU legislative initiative on the abolition of visas for Georgia next week, the filing of such an initiative in relation to Ukraine has been postponed. About this on his page in Twitter wrote the Brussels correspondent of Radio Freedom Rikard Jozwiak.

«The European Commission proposal on visa liberalization for Georgia next week. Ukraine may have to wait after the referendum on the Association Agreement, which will be held in the Netherlands on 6 April», — he wrote.

Earlier media reported that the European Commission will submit to the Council of the EU legislative initiative on the abolition of visas separately for Ukraine and Georgia.

Recall President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko yesterday signed three laws that are necessary for Ukraine’s visa-free regime with the European Union, but about the controversial law on electronic Declaration is still ongoing consultations with the European Commission.

Recall, as reported by people’s Deputy Serhiy Leshchenko after meeting with senior representatives of the diplomatic Department of the EU in Brussels, the EU believes that Ukraine has fulfilled all legal obligations within the framework of the transition to the abolition of visas.

In particular, the EU noted that Ukraine has fulfilled three of the five requirements for the transition to the adoption of the relevant decision.

For the abolition of visas for Ukrainians in the summer of 2016 Ukraine in the coming weeks «to improve the law on Declaration by returning criminal liability for false information in the declarations already this year and also elected three members of NACP».
