Media: in March, the EU will continue sanctions against associates of Putin

EU officials have gathered to extend the sanctions against Russian citizens, guilty of destabilizing the situation in Ukraine.

This was reported by Bloomberg with reference to sources.

According to the report, the European Commission in mid-March for six months to extend sanctions against more than a hundred citizens of Russia and Ukraine. Among them, Arkady Rotenberg, co-owner SMP-Bank and Yuri Kovalchuk, the largest shareholder of Bank «Russia».

EU sanctions and the United States were introduced in 2014 shortly after the occupation of Crimea to Russia. At first they affected only individuals and banks. With the worsening situation in the Donbass and the beginning of hostilities earned sanctions against entire sectors of the Russian economy: financial, energy and defense.

Previously the foreign Ministry of Germany stated that the question of lifting the sanctions against Russia remains dependent on progress in the Minsk talks on peace in Ukraine. Identical position in this matter and in France, as stated by the foreign Minister of the country Jean-Marc Ayrault.
