Lutsenko said that the formation of the state of the state Bureau of investigations of Ukraine may be delayed for a year

The formation of the state of a newly created State Bureau of investigation (UIR) of Ukraine may be delayed for a year. This was during the briefing, which was broadcast channel «112 Ukraine», said Prosecutor General Yury Lutsenko.

«I know that the deputies propose to make some adjustments to this mechanism and make it the same as the National anti-corruption Bureau and the Specialized anticorruption Prosecutor’s office, that is leaders elected in the contest, and they already get their subordinates. I think it would be useful for the RRG to work after six months», – Lutsenko noted.

According to him, during this time, the investigation will have to lead the security Service of Ukraine and Ministry of internal Affairs in cooperation with former investigators of the Prosecutor’s office, which will be called procedural heads.

On 16 November, the Commission for the contest for the position of Director of the State Bureau of investigation, elected Roman Pipe as the only candidate for the position of head of the RRG.

The competition Commission had to choose head of the State Bureau of investigation and his deputies until July 2017. Full RRG was supposed to start working until November 2017, but this did not happen.

The law on the State Bureau of investigation was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on 12 Nov 2015 and is part of the so-called package of a visa-free laws. President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko signed it in January 2016 1 March of the same year the law came into force.

The state Bureau will take away the Prosecutor General functions of pre-trial investigation.
