Lukashenko ordered to look for alternative to Russian oil

The reduction of Russian oil deliveries to Belarus should be replaced by alternatives. This was stated on Friday, 20 January 2016, the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, BelTA has learned.

«We agreed that in the near future you will report to me about the situation in the oil and gas complex of the country, especially in connection with the conduct of Russia. Our agreements and arrangements previously signed, what’s the situation? We do not hide anything from people. To hide, I think not. There is no disaster, but the reduction of oil supplies from the Russian Federation should be replaced by alternative options,» he said, referring to Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Semashko.

Lukashenko noted that these issues were discussed at the end of last year: «we are these alternatives not just worked. We have some tried, tested already in practice, bringing oil from the Black sea and the Mediterranean to our refineries, to practice to see how it will look economically».

«I would therefore like to hear how things go here. How is the negotiation process today, with the Russian Federation and in the future to determine how to proceed. Well, the oil production in Belarus,» the President added.

At the end of last 2016 Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Gennady Zubko said that the oil in the air can be input, in particular, from Ukraine.
