President Petro Poroshenko has congratulated Archbishop-Emeritus of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church Lubomyr Husar with the 83rd birthday. About it reports a press-service of the head of state.

Poroshenko wished the Husar strong health, goodness, joy and God’s mercy.
Lubomyr Husar was born on 26 February 1933 in Lviv. Here he finished primary school and a gymnasium. In 1944 the family was forced to leave Ukraine. First stop in Austria. In Salzburg the Archbishop, he continued his studies at the Ukrainian school. In 1949 the family moved Guzars in the United States. Secondary education the Bishop received in the Minor Seminary in Stamford (state of Connecticut). Then he studied philosophy in the College of St. Basil, where in 1954 he received a bachelor’s degree. Theological Studio has served in the Washington Catholic University in America.
In 1958, as a pupil of the Great theological Seminary of St. Josaphat’s has received the licensee’s theology. 30 March of the same year Vladyka Amvrozy Seishin ordained Lubomyr Husar a priest to work in the Stamford eparchy. In 1958-1959, Lubomyr Husar is a teacher and prefect at Stanford Seminary of St. Basil, and also serves in Kerhonkson (new York) as pastor; the housing of the hearth «Soyuzivka» Ukrainian people’s Union and educational housing hotbed of Union of Ukrainian youth of America in Ellenville (new York state).
Since 1965 parkii is the Abbot of the Holy Trinity in Kerhonkson. In Fordhams University of new York continued his studies, studying philosophy. In 1967 he received a master’s degree. In 1969 he moved to Rome to continue theological studios, which he graduated with the degree of doctor of theology in 1972. In 1972 the Bishop enters the monastery of St. Theodore (monks of the Studite order) in Grottaferrata (Italy).
In 1973-1984, the Lord teaches in the Pontifical University contributed «Urbaniana» in Rome, performs various assignments of the Patriarch of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church Josyf Slipyj . April 2, 1977, in the monastery of the Studite order in Castel-Gandolfo near Rome was ordained Bishop of the already mentioned Patriarch Joseph. In 1978, the Patriarch shall appoint a Bishop Husar as Archimandrite of the monastery of Saint Theodore and also responsible for the monastery of the Studite order outside Ukraine.
From 1984 to 1991 is protosyncellus of the Lviv Archdiocese in Rome. In 1993, together with the community from Grottaferrata he returned to his native land. In 1993-94 he served as a priest at the Lviv spiritual Seminary of the Holy spirit. In 1995 the community settled in the monastery of Saint Theodore Studite in with Kolodiivka in the region.
In November 1996 Bishop Lubomyr was appointed auxiliary-Bishop of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. On 26 January 2001 at the extraordinary Synod of bishops elected Supreme Archbishop of the UGCC. February 21 the same year, Pope John Paul II has appointed Lubomir Husar cardinal Catholic Church.
In 2011 Husar resigned from the post of head Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church.
