Lawyer Yanukovych declared branch of Board of judges on charges of treason

Protection of fugitive ex-President Viktor Yanukovych, accused of treason, declared branch of Board of Obolonskyi district court of Kyiv, the correspondent of «GORDON».

«The court is under pressure and not able to objectively consider the situation», – said at the session of December 13 the lawyer Yanukovych Vitaly Serdyuk.

According to him, the court «follows the instructions» of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine. In addition, Serdyuk considers that the court did not ensure the participation of Yanukovych in the meeting by conference call, accordingly, his client could not personally interview witnesses and speak in court.

Prosecutor Ruslan Kravchenko said that the prosecution opposes the defence motion for disqualification of the panel of judges.

The judge retired to the deliberation room for consideration of this issue, the meeting adjourned.

Yanukovych was President of Ukraine from 2010 to 2014, after fleeing the country live in Russia.

In the Obolon court of Kyiv is considering the case against Yanukovych of treason, of complicity in the conduct of the war and the encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine that resulted in the death of people.

On 7 December, the prosecution requested the court to summon for questioning on charges of treason Yanukovych, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, Secretary of national security and defense Alexander Turchinov, Minister of internal Affairs Arsen Avakov, the speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Andrei Parubiy, the Ukrainian Ambassador to Poland Andrei Deshchitsa, the former Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk.

11 Dec Obolonskiy court was questioning Avakov and Yatsenyuk as witnesses in case of treason.
