Lavrov said that the strengthening of sanctions against the DPRK was «counterproductive and dangerous»

The Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov said that the strengthening of sanctions on the DPRK is ineffective and dangerous. This was discussed in a telephone conversation with U.S. Secretary of state Rex Tillerson, the press service of the Russian foreign Ministry.

The parties have said that another missile launch, North Korea has blatantly violated numerous resolutions of the UN Security Council. While Lavrov again insisted on finding a diplomatic solution to the issue and the need to refrain from any measures of a military nature, which can lead to «unpredictable consequences».

«At the same time stressed that further strengthening sanctions pressure on North Korea Russia considers counterproductive and dangerous», – stated in the message.

The Russian Ministry said that a phone conversation with Lavrov Tillerson took place «on the American initiative».
