Lagarde officially approved head of the IMF for another 5 years

The IMF Executive Board on Friday 10 February adopted a decision that officially endorsed Christine Lagarde as managing Director of the Fund for the next five years.

Myself Lagarde in a statement released by the IMF on the same day, thanked the Board and all members of the IMF for the trust, reports «UKRINFORM».

«I’m happy for giving me the opportunity to lead the IMF as managing Director for a second five-year term, and I very much appreciate the continued trust and support of the Executive Board of the Fund and of our 188 member countries», — said the head of the IMF.

She stressed that over the past five years, «the IMF warning in advance and has strengthened its ability to respond to the needs of members». While Lagarde expressed confidence that the Fund is now well-prepared to respond to future challenges.

IMF chief also noted that the global economy is experiencing some important changes, and the objective of the Fund is to help members overcome them successfully.

«The Fund will continue to be loyal to its main goal – to help ensure global economic and financial stability in the framework of international cooperation», — said Lagarde.

As reported, the re-election of Christine Lagarde for a second term of presidency of the IMF was known earlier, because the election for this position was held with only one candidate.
