Kvit: Declaration of the Polish authorities Vyatrovich persona non grata, in fact, is a recognition of his services

The ban on entry to Poland the head of the Ukrainian Institute of national memory Volodymyr Viatrovych is recognition of his work as a historian and public figure, said former Minister of education and science of Ukraine, Professor of National University of «Kyiv-Mohyla Academy» Serhiy Kvit in Facebook.

«Hysterical behavior with respect to Ukrainian politics of historical memory on the part of the representatives of some neighbouring States testifies to the Imperial relapses, they are not ill even in the early twenty-first century. The announcement of the current Polish government Vyatrovich persona non grata, in fact, is a recognition of his merits as a public figure, head of state institutions and the historian», he said.

The Professor added that this is not a reason to break off relations with the poles.

«It’s very expensive to get understanding and cooperation with the Polish society to thoughtlessly neglect it now. We should not behave the same way. On the contrary, Ukraine should look confident and strong international player. As said a prominent French philosopher, honorary Professor of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy Paul Ricoeur, we, as Europeans, must never forget, but also must not be hostages of their own memory,» – said Kvit.
