Kremlin’s aggressive policy led to the intensification of NATO — klympush-Tsintsadze

The aggressive policy of Russia has led to the activation of the structures of the Alliance and forced him to demonstrate his ability to take decisive action, said the Vice-Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine Ivanna klympush-Tsintsadze.

Deputy Prime Minister in his article for publication ZN.UA noted that in contrast to the European Union, which is experiencing a systemic crisis, NATO today is only growing.

«In the European Union trends of the present — day disintegration and euroscepticism. However, NATO «wakes up»: it is impossible not to notice the activation of all the structures of the block, displaying the ability to take decisive steps (for example, sending a military contingent in the Baltics, expansion in Poland and Romania), efficient search for adequate answers to new types of threats (including cyber-attacks and information provocations). In the face of Russia the Alliance — apparently for the first time since the collapse of the Soviet Union — had the enemy: a real, tangible and geographically localized,» — said klympush-Tsintsadze.

According to her, today, no one in NATO has no illusions about events in Ukraine.

Vice Prime Minister also stressed that Ukraine’s integration into NATO is a way of creating a modern efficient army. «This process is already underway, and cooperation with NATO is now playing a key role,» she writes.

Klympush-Tsintsadze also noted that NATO standards provide not only an efficient army, but a defensive and transparent budget, the elimination of corruption in public procurement for defence needs, technical re-equipment of troops and readiness for new types of threats, generating a hybrid type of war.

As reported, the APU should switch fully to NATO standards until 2020.

In addition, the possibility of creating a regional grouping of the Navy of NATO countries under the conditional name «the black sea fleet of NATO», designed to contain an expansionist onslaught of the black sea fleet, to which in the spring of 2014 couldn’t resist Ukraine in the Crimea. This initiative was made, in particular, Romania.

After the Russian annexation of Ukrainian Crimea in the Black sea quite often come intelligence and missile ships of the 6th fleet of the USA, as well as non-black sea countries — members of NATO. However, they are, according to the Montreux Convention, can stay in the Black sea no longer than 21 days, so the new «the black sea fleet, NATO and its allies» could exist not only on a rotating basis, but due to the replenishment ship part at least of the naval forces of Romania and Bulgaria, experts believe.

At the time this practice was used extensively to support the Turkish Navy, which to this day are serving eight American frigates, and six French corvettes.
