Klimkin: the Kremlin is stalling in the negotiations on the Donbass waiting for the change of leadership in the U.S. and Europe

The Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin said that the Russian side deliberately dragging out the negotiation process on settlement of the situation in the Donbass waiting for the change of leadership in several key countries, reports «Interfax-Ukraine».

«Russia is dragging the time. … The logic of procrastination stems from the fact that, in my opinion, they expect the change of conditions, for example, the change of us leadership and the ability to negotiate with them and the weakening of Europe and so on,» said the heads of the Ukrainian diplomacy.

The Minister also noted that now the fundamental transatlantic and European solidarity. «It’s not just about sanctions… If there is solidarity, that Russia has no place in the civilized world, and to live outside of it is impossible,» pokercollege.

The foreign Minister also stressed that Russia is delaying the negotiation process, hoping a change of participants in the «Normandy format». «In the «Channel format» there are participants who are very deep in the subject, and it also wants to use Russia to lose such key politicians for whom this is not just a political issue but also emotional,» said the Minister.

Klimkin also expressed regret to the probability that the foreign Minister of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier could abandon the negotiation process. «Steinmeier for all these years knows the situation, he knows it in detail. Of course, we all wish him to become President, but I told him that we are sorry that he will leave the negotiation process», — said the head of Ukrainian diplomatic corps.

As reported, on the night of 20 October in Berlin for more than 4 hours of negotiations «channel four»: the German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Francois Hollande, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

During the meeting, the leaders agreed to develop a «road map» that will become the key document to implement all the Minsk agreements of 5 September and Memorandum of 19 September 2014 and 12 February 2015. In addition, Russia supported the deployment of a police mission of the OSCE in the Donbass.
