Just viz as an element of security in Ukraine is not enough. This was stated by Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin in an interview with «UKRINFORM».
«Just visas as part of our security is not enough in General, but primarily with Russia – without creating a database of biometric data, without receiving messages about trips of Russian citizens to us. And most importantly – we need to also track the movement of Russian citizens on the territory of Ukraine. Only the implementation of all these items will allow us to more effectively protect our security,» – said Klimkin.
The Minister noted that now the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Ukraine jointly with the State migration service and state border service is developing the concept of a new mechanism of crossing the border.
«I’m deliberately not going to tell you details in advance to not cause manipulation. The only thing I will say: we will use international experience, but I admit, with more detailed requirements. That is all that needs to be done to ensure national security within the framework of this process, we are implementing. I want to emphasize to friends with new rules of crossing the border no problem creating, but for enemies, it will definitely create considerable!» – said Klimkin.
On August 30 the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko enacted the decision of the Council of national security and defense of Ukraine on strengthening control over the entry/departure into Ukraine of foreigners and persons without citizenship from countries that pose a threat to Ukraine. The Cabinet of Ministers have Russia in the list of countries of migration risk.
New entry procedure, involving the introduction of biometric controls at the border, will work on 1 January 2018.
On 1 September, the speaker of the State border service Oleg Slobodyan, said the Russians entering Ukraine, will not only have to pass a biometric border control, but also to register before entering the country.
From March 2015, the Russians can enter the territory of Ukraine only on foreign passports, the Ukrainians are still able to travel to Russia with internal passports.
