Kiev broke «ties» with Moscow and St. Petersburg

Kyiv city Council February 11, recognized the ties with six cities and regions of the Russian Federation invalid. About it informs the press service of the Kyiv city Council.

At the plenary session of the Kyiv city Council deputies decided to consider these that are not cities and twinned regions of Kiev following cities and regions of Russia: Moscow, Volgograd, St. Petersburg, Ulan-Ude, Republic of Komi, Makhachkala, said in a statement.

Thus, the deputies took into account the observations of the office of legal support activities by the PSC and requested the Executive body of Kyiv city Council (KCSA) to take legal measures for the termination of bilateral treaties, agreements, memorandums, protocols and other documents signed with respective cities and regions.

It is noted that the action of the last programme of cooperation with Moscow ended in 2013.

«Given the political situation between States, cooperation with the cities located on the territory of the Russian Federation, since then, deliberately not carried out. So now these documents are more symbolic than legal. However, given the ideological side of this issue, it is appropriate to take a collective decision», — said the Deputy mayor — Secretary of Kyiv city Council Vladimir Prokopiv.

The decision was supported by 97 deputies.

Recall, February 8, Ivano-Frankivsk unilaterally decided to dissolve the partnership with the Russian city of Surgut and Serpuhove.
