Khodorkovsky called on the CEC not to register the candidate in Putin’s presidents

Russian opposition politician and ex-head of YUKOS Mikhail Khodorkovsky urged the Central election Commission of the Russian Federation to register as a presidential candidate of incumbent President Vladimir Putin. The corresponding letter to the head of the CEC of the Russian Federation Ella Pamfilova, the founder of the movement «Open Russia» published on December 19 in Facebook.

Khodorkovsky has reminded that Putin «is actually in power for seventeen years,» given the fact that from 2008 to 2012, it «formally replaced» the current Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, which «not one day was a full-fledged leader of the country».

«It was a crafty trick to deceive their own people and the international community,» – says the opposition, noting that «both sides had agreed… and exchanged between a public office».

According to him, «this reshuffle was politically immoral and legally illegal».

Khodorkovsky believes that the members of the CEC «must fulfill their civic and professional duty to take the only legally possible solution is to refuse registration of Putin.»

The politician is convinced that this appeal will be joined by thousands of Russian voters.
