Junker wrote Poroshenko letter about the reforms: laws without visa will not be canceled

Ukraine should implement a number of judicial and human rights reforms before its citizens will be granted visa-free regime with the EU.

This was stated by the President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker in his letter to the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, writes European true with reference to the publication Euractiv.

«Progress in implementing reforms in the fight against corruption remains a key priority for the achievement of visa-free regime with the EU for Ukrainian citizens», — said Juncker.

In a letter to Poroshenko, the President of the European Commission calls for rapid establishment of independent bodies to combat corruption.

According to him, Ukraine also needs to replace the labor laws to prohibit discrimination on grounds of sexual orientation and to create Agency for returning confiscated assets.

As reported, the Verkhovna Rada on Thursday could only vote for 2 of the 13 required for the introduction of a visa-free regime bills.

In particular, MPs failed to adopt in the second reading the law 3040, providing for the establishment of the national Agency for the identification, investigation and management of assets derived from corruption and other crimes.

In addition, the parliamentarians refused to consider the norm of the Labor code on prohibition of employment discrimination, which is a prerequisite for the abolition of the EU visas for Ukrainian citizens.

Parliament postponed until Tuesday the draft laws necessary for Ukraine’s implementation of the action Plan on visa liberalization with the EU. Thus the Deputy of the European Parliament Petras austrevicius, who heads the group of friendship with Ukraine in the EP, says that the Verkhovna Rada remains some time for the adoption of a visa-free package, but it expires.
