Japan from January 1 to simplify visa regime with Ukraine

From 1 January 2018, Japan will simplify visa regime for Ukrainians, reported the website of the Japanese Embassy in Ukraine.

The Embassy explained that measures to simplify visa requirements for short stays of Ukrainian citizens (holders of ordinary passports) was developed following the visit of Minister of foreign Affairs of Japan, Nakano Kazuyuki in Kiev.

According to entering next year rules, Japan will increase the number of applicants entitled to multiple-entry visa for a short stay for business purposes, as well as cultural and scientific figures. The validity of such visas will increase from three to five years.

In addition to the existing single-entry visas will be introduced repeated (with a validity of three years and maximum period of stay of 30 days) to visit Japan with various, including tourist purposes. In the case of self-payment the trip, the applicant has to provide documents from a host.

The Embassy of Japan said that they expect an increase in the number of Ukrainians who re-visit Japan, and further strengthen interpersonal contacts.

In June 2017 the MP from the faction «people’s front» Leonid Yemets reported that the Japanese government has begun work on the abolition of visas for Ukrainians.
