Italy is not afraid of a visa-free regime with Ukraine

Italy sees no problems in granting Ukraine a visa-free regime with the EU countries, because the number of migrants from Ukraine to Europe is much less than from the Middle East or even Africa in spite of the armed conflict in the Donbass.

About it on April 21 in Rome was declared by the Deputy Minister of foreign Affairs Vincenzo Amendola during the meeting with Deputy Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine on European integration Elena serkal, reports Radio Liberty.

According to the Ambassador of Ukraine in Rome Eugenia Perelygina, our country is not a supplier of migrants in those volumes, which, unlike flow from African countries, may worsen the internal situation in Italy.

In addition, Italy does not see serious threats to migratory situation in the armed conflict in Eastern Ukraine. The reason is simple — over the past two years the number of illegal immigrants from Ukraine to the EU has not significantly increased, as immigrants from Donbass remained in Ukraine, and not left to the EU. In addition, between Kiev and Brussels has been functioning readmission agreement.

We will remind, on April 20 the European Commission has announced that it has proposed to the European Parliament and the EU Council to abolish visas for citizens of Ukraine.

This proposal is the result of a positive assessment by the European Commission in December last year — in this Documenta, in particular, confirmed that Ukraine has fulfilled all criteria under the action Plan on visa liberalization.

After the adoption of the proposals of the European Parliament and the Council of the EU to Ukrainian citizens with biometric passports no longer need visas for short term visits (to 90 days) in the Schengen area.
