The Ukrainian government should create conditions for independent work of anti-corruption agencies. On 14 December, while on a visit to Washington, in an interview with «Voice of America» said the Vice-speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Irina Gerashchenko.
According to her, the Ukrainian Parliament «voted in favor of adequate funding for all anti-corruption bodies for 2018 year in the new budget.»
«In addition, before the end of the current session, likely in January will still be considered in the first reading the draft laws on anti-corruption and military ships,» – said Gerashchenko.
The Vice-speaker has no doubt that «over the next year anti-corruption court will be established, and he will be able to earn 2019».
On 9 October, the Venice Commission criticized the Ukrainian bills No. 6011 (attribution Deputy speaker Oksana Syroid (independent), MPs Yegor Sobolev (Samopomich), Ivan Krulko (Batkivshchyna), Sergey Leshchenko, Svetlana Zalishchuk and Moustapha Nayem (Block Poroshenko) and No. 6529 (representative of the bloc of Petro Poroshenko Sergey Alekseev) on the establishment of anticorruption courts in Ukraine. Both initiatives since withdrawn from the Verkhovna Rada.
On 7 December, President Petro Poroshenko said that prepare and submit to Parliament a draft law on the anti-corruption court, if members do not develop the appropriate document. In parallel, he also promised to submit the initiative to establish the military court.
U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine, Marie Yovanovitch expressed hope that the adoption of legislation on anti-corruption court will be held before the end of the year.
The creation of a specialized anti-corruption court is one of the obligations which Ukraine undertook before the international partners – the European Union and the International monetary Fund.
