Public joint stock company «Ukrzaliznytsia» announced the delay of several passenger trains, including 10 high-speed trains, from-for breakages due to the low temperatures and heavy snowfall in early January. This is stated in the answer of «Ukrzaliznytsia» on the request of the UNIAN.
In particular, in the period of heavy snowfall, from 6 to 8 January in Ukraine was delayed from 20 minutes to several hours following trains: №743. — Truskavets, No. 744 Truskavets center, No. 705 Kiev – Przemysl, No. 747. – Lviv, No. 732 Kiev – Zaporozhye, No. 720 Vinnytsia – Kharkiv, No. 722 Kyiv – Kharkiv, No. 764 Odessa., No. 739 Kryvyi Rih – Kyiv, №712 Kiev – Konstantinovka.
The company emphasize that, unlike other modes of transport and works traffic services, «Ukrzaliznytsya» did not cancel any trains and, despite the bad weather, delivered all passengers to their final stations.
Among the main reasons for delays of high-speed trains in the company called a breakage of a contact network and damage to the pantographs of a train; the build up of snow and ice, which led to failures in the operation of equipment movement control (of alarm systems and automatic locking); and the build up of snow and ice filters, air cooling systems, equipment, and undercar equipment, which led to the need of shutdowns for cleaning or driving with reduced speed.
«In each case of train delay office investigations and measures to prevent similar situations in the future», — said the press service. It is also noted that compensation for a delayed train to the destination legislative acts and legal documents not provided. In addition, in the «Ukrzaliznytsia» reported 21 complaints of the passengers against the carrier for failure to comply with the temperature in the trains plying between 29 December 2016 to 10 January 2017.
«Most of the complaints at the registry of the Odessa railway. And complained not only at low temperature, there are 7 complaints on the heat in cars. But given the total number of passengers carried — more than 2 million people, the number of complaints is insignificant,» — noted in the response to the request of the Agency.
The main reasons for non-compliance with the temperature in the trains of «Ukrzaliznytsya» called the failure of the heating system of cars, failure to fulfill official duties of the employees responsible for the preparation of the wagons to flight, as well as inadequate preparation of cars for the peak winter traffic.
The press service also said that in connection with the identified violations of the «Ukrzaliznytsya» has fired four employees and reprimanded six, without specifying the positions of these workers. To minimize the occurrence of such faults, the company analyzes all cases of failure of heating systems, trains, conducts a sudden inspection of the sanitary condition of railcars, and conducts additional briefings with employees on operation of heating installations cars.
As reported, in connection with deterioration of weather conditions in early January this year was restricted to vehicular traffic in the Western and southern regions. Due to the bad weather many trains ran late, and some of them broke down on the way. This is not the first cases of breakdowns of trains. So, after the routes in may 2012 Hyundai trains that were purchased for the championship of Europe on football Euro-2012, was repeatedly broken, the peak of the damage came in the winter of 2012-2013.
In February 2014, all ten trains Hyundai was decommissioned in connection with the identification of a technical malfunction, in particular in the load-bearing bodywork train cracks were found. «Ukrzaliznytsya» has returned to train on the trails for 3-4 months after the repair damage.
