Against Facebook and Twitter can impose sanctions if they continue to interfere with the British Parliament to investigate, intervene if Russia results of the referendum on Brexit. On this December 28, said the head of the British parliamentary Committee for culture, media and sport, Damian Collins, said the newspaper The Guardian.

According to him, the social network needs to provide the most detailed information on possible disinformation campaign of Russia, including to tell us how they can resist such action.

One of the options for sanctions against Facebook and Twitter, according to Collins, may be the restriction on advertising in social networks.

Facebook, Twitter and Google Russia is suspected of using their Internet platforms to intervene in the election campaign in the United States. On 31 October, the representatives of these companies explained to Congress of the United States.

In November, scientists at the University of Swansea and the University of California at Berkeley, said that Russia is using bots and trolls trying to influence the vote in the UK regarding the country’s withdrawal from the European Union.
