The Ukrainian parliamentarians appealed to the UN to include in its scope the issue of sexual violence in the East of Ukraine.

«We, members of Interfactional Association «Equal opportunities» deeply shocked by the facts of gender-based violence and crimes in the occupied territories of the Donetsk region, committed and promulgated by representatives of armed groups and terrorist groups, militants of the so-called international brigade «Tag» DNR», – reads the statement of the MFI.
The «exposed sexual exploitation of minors, trafficking in the occupied territories of Donetsk region equates illegal armed groups in Donbas to the Islamic state, also known crimes with signs of gender and sexual violence, including against children.

«We urge the European Union to respond harshly to the facts and to prosecute persons among the citizens of European countries who take part in illegal armed formations on the occupied territories of Ukraine and involved in crimes against humanity. We also appeal to the special representative of the UN Secretary General on children and armed conflict Leila Zerrougi with a request to appoint an investigation into the use of children in military operations on Donbass on the party of so-called LNR and DNR and Express their position on this issue,» – said in a statement.
Members of MFO «Equal opportunity» appealed to the Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine with a request to bring the published facts of the crime of gender-based violence to the attention of diplomatic missions of foreign States in Ukraine and to call on governments to prosecute members of illegal armed groups operating in the occupied territories of Ukraine.
Crime data is also transmitted to the Special Rapporteur on trafficking in children, child prostitution and child pornography.
We will remind, in June the Ukrainian side has expressed bewilderment in connection with the inaction of the UN Security Council in response to a direct request of Kiev on the deployment in the occupied regions of Donbas, the UN peacekeeping mission.
