In the framework of the judicial reform in Ukraine plan to eliminate local 142 of the General court and create 74 the district court, according to the High Council of justice (SCJ).

It is stipulated by the draft decrees of the President of Ukraine «On the elimination of local common courts and establishment of district courts.» December 18, VSP received the letter of the head of state of 15 December in which he asked the Council to inform its position on his proposals.

«The high Council of justice decided to consider the possible elimination of local common courts and establishment of district courts, as proposed in the draft decrees of the President of Ukraine, directed to the High Council of justice letters of December 15, 2017», – stated in the GSP.

On the website of the Council published texts of the decisions regarding the proposals of the President.

Provides, inter alia, the elimination of the 10 district courts of Kyiv Holoseievski, Darnytskyi, Desnianskyi, Dniprovskyi, Obolonskyi, Pecherskyi, Podilskyi, Svyatoshinskiy, Solomenskiy and Shevchenko. Instead, they proposed to create six district courts: Darnitskiy district court in the area Darnytskyi, Dnieper district court in the Desna and Dnieper regions, Podolsky district court in Obolonskyi and Podilskyi districts, the Central district court in caves and goloseyevsky areas, the Solomensky district court in svjatoshynskyi and Solomenskiy and Shevchenko district court in Shevchenko district of the capital.

In June 2016 the Verkhovna Rada adopted the law on the judicial system and status of judges, as well as changes in the Constitution in terms of justice.

They canceled the procedure for the appointment of judges by the President for a term of five years. Also eliminated the higher specialized courts and the court of cassation is created, which guarantees the protection of the right to justice of the citizen of Ukraine. Provides for a gradual increase of the salary of judges to 30, 50 and 75 times the minimum wage depending on the level of the court.

On the night of 21 December 2016, the Parliament adopted the law on the establishment of the High Council of justice. This body is intended to replace the High Council of justice in judicial reform. A Board consisting of 21 members empowered to dismiss judges from office, to transfer them to another court, to consent to detention or arrest of a judge.

15 December 2017 in Ukraine started a new Supreme Court. Judges the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has appointed 11 November.

The head of the new APU is Valentyna Danishevska, her Deputy Bohdan Lvov.
