The EU in the near future is unlikely to adopt a decision approving the so-called suspension mechanism a visa-free regime, which is essential for providing bezveza with the EU for Ukraine, Georgia and Kosovo. About this in his Twitter said the Brussels correspondent of Radio Freedom Rikard Jozwiak.
«Yet it seems that the European Parliament and the EU Council agreed on approval of «mechanism of suspension» during their meeting in early November,» he wrote.
We are talking about the so-called process of «Trialogue» in which the European institutions must adopt a joint vision of the new mechanism. Only after that the proposal will be submitted for approval by the European Parliament and the EU Council.
As reported, on 20 April the European Commission invited the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union to cancel visas for Ukrainian citizens. This proposal is a consequence of the positive evaluation provided by the European Commission in December last year. In it particular, it provides confirmation that Ukraine has fulfilled all the criteria in the framework of the action plan on visa liberalization.
On 26 September the European Parliament’s Committee on civil liberties, justice and home Affairs (LIBE) endorsed the report on granting Ukraine a visa-free regime and provided the mandate for the beginning of negotiations between EU institutions.
On 23 October, President Petro Poroshenko said that Ukraine will receive the decision on introduction of a visa-free regime with the European Union before the summit Ukraine-EU on November 24.
Recall that in July 2015, the Dutch Parliament has completed the ratification procedure of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU.
However, on 6 April 2016 in the Netherlands held a consultative referendum on the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU. Voted against 61% of participants in the referendum, more than 38%. The turnout was of 32.28%.
The European Commission and Ukraine expect from the government of the Netherlands proposals for further action after the referendum on the Association Agreement EU-Ukraine.
At the same time, 22 September, the Prime Minister of the Netherlands mark Rutte said that his country could not ratify the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU regarding the introduction of a deep and comprehensive free trade area. However, he expressed optimism that the Association Agreement in the part of the free trade zone may remain in force and without the Netherlands, spreading to the rest of the 27 member countries of the European Union and Ukraine.
