The remains of the famous Ukrainian writer Oleksandr Oles, who is buried in the Czech Republic, forcibly exhumed. On Tuesday, January 3, reports ZN.UA.

As you know, Oleksandr Oles died in 1944. According to Czech law, after the funeral, the relatives or friends of the deceased should pay rent for a place in the cemetery, to 20 thousand CZK for 10 years (approximately 20 thousand UAH — ed.).

According to representatives of the local Ukrainian community, until recently, the rent for the grave Olesya pay, on its own initiative, a citizen of the Czech Republic and a native of Ukraine Vladimir Mikhaylishin. Recently, however, Myhaylishyn died, and now his son wants to bury father on the grave of Olesya.

According to the Ukrainian Diasporan, the reburial is scheduled for 12.00 noon on 3 January 2017, plans for further dumping of the remains of the Oles and his wife is unknown. Now at the olšany cemetery are representatives of the Ukrainian Diaspora, who are waiting for the Consul.

The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko instructed the foreign Ministry to examine the issue of reburial of the Ukrainian poet and writer Oleksandr Oles in Ukraine, said the press Secretary of the President Svyatoslav Tsegolko.

«The President of Ukraine instructed the Ministry of foreign Affairs to urgently intervene in the situation with the burial of the famous Ukrainian writer Oleksandr Oles in the Czech Republic, as well as to contact his relatives about the study the issue of reburial in Ukraine», — said Tsegolko the Agency «Interfax-Ukraine» on Tuesday, January 3.

The Ministry of foreign Affairs of Ukraine to urgently intervene in the situation of the burial of the famous Ukrainian writer Oleksandr Oles in the Czech Republic. It insisted Petro Poroshenko, according to Svyatoslav Tsegolko in his Facebook.

Also the Ministry of foreign Affairs will contact the relatives of the writer Oleksandr Oles in Canada to determine the possibility of reburial in Ukraine.

The head of the Ukrainian Institute of national memory Volodymyr viatrovych believes that the remains of Ukrainian writer Oleksandr Oles should be buried in the lukyanovsky cemetery in Kiev. This viatrovych wrote on his page in Facebook.

«Alexander Oles should be reburied in Ukraine. The best place for this is the alley of honorary burial Lukyanovka cemetery,» he said.

However, according to Vyatrovich, the solution of the issue of reburial of the ashes of Olesya does not solve the whole problem.

«Around the world are scattered the graves of prominent Ukrainians. Some of them will remain in place and will require joint custody of the local Ukrainian community and the Ukrainian state. Part should be reburied in Ukraine because of the inability to take care of them at the present location of the burial site. As for the most outstanding Ukrainians — our government itself must initiate their return to their native land for burial in the national Pantheon,» said the head of the Ukrainian Institute of national memory.

The Ministry of foreign Affairs of Ukraine on behalf of Poroshenko in the Ukrainian Embassy in Prague has taken steps to preserve and further the reburial of the Ukrainian poet, writer Oleksandr Oles and his wife.

«The intervention of the Embassy of Ukraine the remains of Alexander Oles and wife were moved to the Depository of the cemetery until the decision of the relatives of Alexander Oles, living in Canada, the place of final disposal of the remains. After a decision of the Ukrainian Embassy in Prague will take all measures for the proper reburial of the remains of Alexander Oles and his wife,» — said in the message.
