In the occupied Crimea, the court extended the detention of Ukrainian activist Volodymyr Baluku until March 4.

«Today, February 3, 2017, the judge «Razdolnensky district court» Alexander Abelyashev extended Ukrainian activist Volodymyr Balugu a measure of restraint in form of detention for another month, until March 4. The court Ukrainian brought from the detention center of Simferopol», — said the Crimean human rights group.

According to her, the same judge Abelyashev previously elected activist measure and later extended it to 5 February 2017.

Human rights activists reminded that the presence of Baluja custody for threatening his health, noting that on 17 January in Simferopol prison, he suffered an acute attack of kidney stones.

According to the defense of Baluja, there is no reason to keep him in jail. The lawyer appealed against the first instance judgment and asked the «Supreme court» of the Crimea to replace the measure of restraint to the Ukrainian house arrest, but «the court» was denied.

As reported, on 8 December 2016, the FSB raided the homes of Vladimir Baloga and his mother. After the search the activist was detained. 12 Dec «Razdolnensky district court» chose a measure of restraint for the resident in the form of detention. Baloha accused of «illegal possession of weapons, its main parts, ammunition» (part 1 of article 222 of the criminal code). KPG announced an explicit political persecution of the Ukrainian activist. According to experts of the KKE, in the actions of judicial and law enforcement bodies are contained gross violations of not only international but also Russian criminal procedure legislation, which de facto applies in Crimea.
