In Moldova failed national wine day

In the events dedicated to traditional National wine day, which took place in Moldova on 3 and 4 October, was attended by about 25 thousand people, which is 80% lower than 2014, and the losses from the festival amounted to more than eight million euros.

Such information was published by national Federation of tourism promotion, reports UKRINFORM correspondent in Moldova.

«Unfortunately, due to the change in format of the festival (instead of the Great national Assembly square in Chisinau the event took place on the territory of the enterprises-manufacturers — ed.), the majority of foreign tourists refused to come to Moldova. In total, the losses from the last holiday was 8.2 million euros,» — said the head of the Federation Aleksandr Filipskiy.

According to him, if in 2015 the festival was visited by over 15 thousand foreigners, this year the event was attended by just over 1.5 thousand tourists.

Recall, the national wine day was established in Moldova in 2002 on the initiative of ex-President Vladimir Voronin. Traditionally, the main event took place on the Great national Assembly square in Chisinau. However, due to the indefinite protest actions, which continue in the capital of Moldova for the second month, the format of the holiday was changed, and the main event was held on the territory of the enterprises — manufacturers of alcoholic production.
