In Lithuania, the government banned the use of Kaspersky anti-virus

The government of Lithuania of 20 December banned state agencies to use the software Russian «Kaspersky Lab». This was announced by the Ministry of defence of the country.

It is noted that the anti-virus companies have a «potential threat to national security».

Specialists of the National centre of cyber security will provide advice to departments in the replacement software.

Vice-Minister of defense Edvinas Karsa noted that the decision applies to energy systems, Finance, transport and other public sectors. Private companies should individually assess the potential risks of using the software.

In September all state agencies of the USA were obliged to abandon the use of anti-virus software «Kaspersky Lab».

The Ministry of internal security of the United States stated that «Kaspersky Lab» is probably cooperating with Russian special services and the Kremlin, so the use of the software may threaten the national security of the United States to support the implementation of cyber attacks.

In December the use of anti-virus software «Kaspersky Lab» banned in government institutions in the UK.
