In Kyiv a wooden Church «repelled» an attempt to set fire to it

In Kiev unknown tried to set fire to the temple in honor of icon of mother of God «Softener of evil hearts» and the St. Petro Mohyla Second Shevchenko deanery of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP).

This was stated by the rector of the Church, John Tronko, announced on Monday 16 January, the press service of the UOC-MP.

He said that around 4:00, the attackers threw in the South wall of the wooden Church lighted, four glass bottles of flammable mixture.

«The temple remained unharmed: the bottle did not break and bounced off the walls,» said the priest.

According to him, about the attempted arson show burnt marks from contact with «Molotov cocktail».

FR suggests that the attempt to set fire to a temple associated with the intention to pick up a costly land on which the temple is located. The Abbot says that for six months his coming suffering from the aggressive actions of unknown investors who want to build flats on the site of the temple.

The construction of temple was started on 12 September 2007 and in June 2008, Metropolitan Vladimir ( Sabodan) performed the rite of his consecration in honour of St. Peter and the Tomb of the Mother of God «Softener of evil hearts».

It is noted that this temple is the second time trying to burn unknown attackers. The previous attempt to destroy the Church was taken in January 2016.
