The mayor of Kiev Vitali Klitschko signed a decree on renaming 77 topographic objects in Kiev – the streets, lanes, one of the Boulevard and the square – in the framework of the law «About the condemnation of the Communist and national socialist (Nazi) totalitarian regimes in Ukraine and the prohibition of propaganda of their symbols».
The corresponding decree №125/1 dated February 19, 2016 published on the official website of the Kyiv city state administration.
According to the Annex to the order, bull. Alexey Davydov in the residential area of the Rusanovka will get the name of the composer Ihor Shamo, and the area of the meadow on the left Bank zhilmassive – the name of the writer and poet Panteleimon Kulish.
In this case, located near St. named after Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky, and the lane of Lunacharsky renamed to Sloboda (located in the remaining part of the Nikolskaya Slobodka, mostly demolished during the construction of railway/metro station). Street Milchakova on the left Bank is named after children’s author Vsevolod nestayko, St. Stepan Zagadka on Nikolskaya Slobodka – in honor of the poet and writer Yevhen malanyuk.
Street Lajos gavro on the residential area Obolon renamed in Jordan, located near St. mate Zalki – in part of the sculptor and painter Alexander Archipenko, street Gamarnika in Pushcha-Vodice – after the singer Kvitka tsisyk, street Yemelyan Gorbachev on Galiano – in Galvanovska, ul. Polupanova on priorke in Priorka. Street Peter Degtyarenko, held in the industrial area near Priorly and Cottage Kulzhenko, named after the family Kulzhenko.
The street of Lenin in the neighborhood of Novaya Darnitsa named in honor of the deceased hero of the Heavenly Hundreds of Yuri Paskalina, St. Rudneva — in honor of linguist and literary critic Yuriy Shevelyov, lane Rudnev – in honor of poet and translator Igor Kaczorowska, street Uborevicha to the Squirrel – repressed in honor of academician Sergei Efremov, St. Kravchenko on Lukyanovka – in honor of the artist Wilhelm Kotarbinsky, and Mayorova street in the residential area of Minsk in honor of the last ataman of Zaporizhzhya Sich Petro Kalnyshevsky.
Ulitsa Mishina on the Chokolivka renamed in honor of the Family Idzikowskilocated near Petrovskogo St. – in honor of the poet and human rights activist Ivan Svitlychny, street Serafimovicha in residential birch – in honor of actor and Director Ivan Mykolaychuk, trutenko St. in Goloseevo – in honor of the historian Mykhailo Maksymovych, Furmanov on Solomenka – in honor of the architect Kobelev.
Street and lane Krasnogvardeyskaya in Desnyanskiy district named after a repressed composer and ethnographer Hnat Khotkevych, Krasnopartizansky on the Alexander Slobodka – in honor of brothers Serovich, St. Krasnoflotskaya, Puscha-Voditsa – in honor of the bibliographer Fedir Maksymenko. Street Chudnovsky in Sotsgorod is named after the poet Gregory chuprynki, Shaumyana str Nivki – in honor of film Director Sergei Parajanov, located near St. Shcherbakov – in honor of ethnographer Daniel Shcherbakovsky.
Street Wilhelm Pieck on Nivki got its original name Ruzhinskaya, and yakira St., formerly known as Novoprudskiy, called derevlyans’ka. Krasnoarmeyskaya street to the New Building and Demievka named after the captain of the SBU, instructor of special forces «alpha» Ruslan Lugovskogo, who was killed in 2014 during fights for Slavyansk.
Recall, after the victory of the Revolution of Dignity of 2013-2014 in Ukraine banned the activities of the Communist party, as well as political symbols and propaganda of the Soviet occupation. Settlements, streets, squares and other objects, renamed in honor of the famous former Communists, returned to historical names or (by decision of local and Central authorities) are new.
