700 law enforcement officers, of which 250 National guard troops, to guard mass events in Kyiv on the occasion of the 108th anniversary of the birth of Stepan Bandera. It is reported by the Department of communication of the police of Kiev.
«January 1, 2017 on the occasion of the 108th anniversary of the birth of Stepan Bandera will host events with mass participation of citizens. Monitor compliance with public order will be a sufficient number of law enforcement officers of structural divisions of the capital dome. Reinforced police will be on duty in the city center, on public transport and in underground», — stated in the message.
Police urge participants of the mass events, residents and guests of the capital not to break the law, to comply with rules of conduct.
As previously reported, the festive events on the occasion of the 108th anniversary of the birth of one of the main ideologues and theorists of the Ukrainian nationalist movement Stepan Bandera planned in different cities of Ukraine.
In Kiev, the mass event will begin at 18.00 at the monument to Taras Shevchenko, then the March will take place at the Shevchenko Boulevard and Khreschatyk street and will end with a rally at the independence square.
The main celebrations are held today in the village of Old uhryniv Kalush district Ivano-Frankivsk region, where was born the famous Ukrainian politician.

Stepan Bandera was born January 1, 1909. He was the leader of Ukrainian nationalists, the head of the revolutionary Organization of Ukrainian nationalists (OUN(b)).
In 1929 he joined the OUN, between 1931 and was a member of the Regional Executive of the OUN in the Western Ukrainian lands (ZUZ), and from June 1932 — Deputy Regional guide and reviewer propaganda. From 1940, he held senior positions in the OUN.
In June 1941 Ukrainian nationalists led by Stepan Bandera had entered Lviv with the German forces.
30 June 1941, Bandera was arrested by the Nazi authorities for the proclamation of his supporters, headed by Yaroslav Stetsko the restoration of the independent Ukrainian state in Lviv (contrary to the Nazi plans for the colonization of Ukraine).
After the Second world war Bandera lived in West Germany, where he continued to lead the Ukrainian insurgent army (UPA).
Assassinated in 1959 in Munich. As established by the German Federal constitutional court in Karlsruhe, on the instructions of the Committee of state security of USSR (KGB) this murder was Bogdan Stashinsky, and later defected to West Berlin.
