In India, the festival of kites capsized boat, more than 20 people drowned

In the Indian Ganges river capsized a passenger boat, resulting in drowned 24 people.

About it reports the Indian newspaper Mathrubhumi, citing local authorities.

«At least 24 people were killed, including minors, due to the fact that the Ganges river capsized boat, presumably from congestion,» the statement reads.

It is noted that on Board were 40 people, which exceeded the norms of the allowed number of passengers.

People were returning from a festival of kite-flying from one city to another. Some passengers managed to escape, swam to the shore.

According to other media reports, the accident killed 26 people, police reports 13 saved.

Earlier in India 14 cars of train derailed about three o’clock in the morning local time. Then at least 96 people were killed and 226 were injured in the accident.
