In Grozny of the human rights defender detained on suspicion of drug possession

In Chechnya on 9 January arrested the head of the Grozny mission of the human rights centre «memorial» Oub Titiev, according to RBC with reference to the press service of the Commissioner for human rights in the Chechen Republic Nurdi Nukhazhiev.

According to the Ombudsman’s office, in the car Titieva stopped for inspection of documents, the drugs were found.

«During the inspection of the interior of the car was discovered a black bag with substance of a phytogenesis with a specific smell marijuana, weighing about 180 g,» – said the press service, adding that «no violations of the law by police officers who conducted the arrest of a citizen Ouba Titieva, it is not revealed».

In the «Memorial» stated that Titiev appeared in the morning at work and did not come to an appointment with his friend. He told human rights defenders that went in search and spotted the car Titieva, which was examined by the police.

«It was obvious that the car examined carefully: open the hood and trunk, spare wheel out of the trunk and lay on the ground nearby,» – said on the website of «Memorial». Subsequently, the car Titiev was seen in Kurchaloevsky police station.

Deputy interior Minister of Chechnya Apti Alaudinov confirmed Commissioner for human rights in the Russian Federation Tatiana Moskalkova that Titiev contained in the Department. Alaudinov has promised that in the near future to allow detained human rights defenders and a lawyer, provided by «Memorial».
